Sandwich Panel Winter Garden

A sandwich panel winter garden combines an insulated roof panel, with foam insulation sandwiched between two metal face sheets, with an aluminium joinery system, turning a terrace or balcony into an enclosed space usable in every season. The side walls are closed with glazed joinery, and the roof with the insulated panel. Metalux measures, manufactures and installs both the joinery and the roof system in-house.

Where is it used?

The system suits converting villa and apartment balconies into enclosed living space, terrace cafes, and restaurants aiming for a seating area usable throughout the year.

Things to consider

Condensation and water drainage at the roof-to-joinery junctions need to be resolved carefully at design stage. Panel slope should be planned with enough fall for effective rainwater drainage. Whether the addition places extra load on the existing building structure is assessed before installation.
