Guillotine Glass Systems: What They Are, Where Used
A guillotine glass system opens and closes with a vertical, up-and-down motion instead of sliding sideways. Here is how it works and where it fits best.

Aluminium Door & Window Systems
A single glass panel that slides vertically upward to open, typically driven by a motorised chain or belt.
A guillotine glass system works on the principle of a single glass panel sliding vertically upward along a track to open. Movement is usually driven by a motorised chain or belt mechanism, and the panel can be stopped at any desired height. When closed, the panel seats against gaskets within the frame to seal the opening. Metalux measures, manufactures and installs the system for each project.
The system suits bar and kitchen service openings, poolside cafes, restaurant frontages, and projects that need the surface to open fully but have limited room for horizontal movement.
As panel weight and height increase, the motor power and drive mechanism must be sized to that load. Periodic maintenance of the chain or belt mechanism matters for long-term reliability. Sufficient headroom for the glass to retract into the upper housing should be built into the architectural design from the outset.
