Spider Stair Balustrade and Glass Balconies in a Modern Home
Example application: spider-fixed glass on the outdoor stair and base-channel glass balustrades on the balconies.

Balustrade Systems
A post-free balustrade where laminated glass is clamped into an aluminium base channel with a wedge and gasket system.
In a glass base channel balustrade, laminated glass is held in an aluminium base channel fixed to the floor, clamped by a wedge and gasket system. With no vertical post or spider fitting used, the glass surface reads as uninterrupted. Metalux completes the process, from mounting the base channel to clamping the glass, with its own team.
The system suits balcony and terrace balustrades, poolside safety railings, roof terraces, and sea-view facades where an unobstructed balustrade is required.
Glass thickness and base channel length are set by structural calculation, according to balustrade height and wind load. Wedge clamping torque should be checked periodically against the manufacturer's tolerances. The compatibility of floor fixing points with the supporting structure is assessed at design stage.

Example application: spider-fixed glass on the outdoor stair and base-channel glass balustrades on the balconies.
