5 criteria for choosing a glass balustrade
Five practical criteria to weigh when choosing a glass balustrade: mounting, glass thickness, handrail, location and upkeep.

Balustrade Systems
A classic-style aluminium balustrade with decorative pear-shaped details on its balusters.
The Pear-Baluster Balustrade is a glass balustrade system in which the glass panels are seated on special aluminium supporting feet fixed to the floor. It takes its name from the pear-shaped connection and supporting feet used at the bottom of the glass.
Because no conventional posts are used along the glass surface, it gives a simpler, more transparent and modern appearance on stairs and balconies. Depending on the project, an aluminium or stainless steel handrail can be fitted at the top.
Where is it used?
It is preferred on stairs, balconies, terraces, mezzanine voids, in villa and residential interiors, and in areas where the glass look is to be the focus.
Why choose it?
- The pear-shaped feet carrying the glass from the floor create a clean appearance.
- It interrupts the view less than balustrades with conventional posts.
- Gives a modern architectural appearance on stairs and balconies.
- Creates a clean, transparent line of consecutive glass panels.
- Can be applied with different glass and handrail options depending on the project.
- Can be adapted to indoor and outdoor applications
